THANK YOU
FROM
HOME MISSIONARIES
TOM AND PAM JONES
On Saturday, September 27, 2008 people began to show up at Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Company 7 on Pittsburgh Street in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. They came with one thing on their minds—Operation Saturation. Our goal was to reach at least 1000 homes in about 2 – 21/2 hours. We were working in conjunction with Ken Akers and Master’s Men to saturate our area with information about the church we are planting here—Keystone Free Will Baptist Church.
A special thank you goes to Pastor Daryl Grimes and the men from the Harrison FWB church in Minford, OH; Pastor Tom Dooley and the men from First FWB church in Austintown, OH; Pastor Brian Phillips from the Wyandotte FWB church in Mansfield, OH; and Pastor Paul Etterling and the folks from the Westerville FWB church in Westerville, OH. These folks took time from their busy schedules to come and help us. It was very humbling but very much appreciated.
I was also very proud of the folks from our church that showed up to help. Most of them had never been involved in something like this but they were more than willing to help. It made me feel very good as a home missionary to see people wanting to reach out. Other ladies in the church showed up to help serve lunch and they did a fantastic job!
We were privileged to have Master’s Men director Ken Akers and his wife Sandra with us. Richard Atwood from Home Missions also came up to help. It was such a joy to have these guys with us. They do more than just talk about helping—they get involved and help get the work done!
After about 2 hours we had reached 1000 homes. We have had three people that have attended as a direct result of receiving information at their homes. One was a lady who was looking for a church. We will see what happens with her. The other was a couple that we have been trying to minister to. These were folks we might have never met had it not been for Operation Saturation. We used the opportunity to promote our Friend and Family Day on September 28th. We had a record attendance of 37 with 13 first time guests! Some of these have returned and seem to be very interested in the church.
Only eternity will show the full benefit of these precious people taking the time to help us reach out to our community through Operation Saturation!
