Ridge Church Project
A project was presented to the National Association meeting in 2006, help with the up-keep and restoration of the First Free Will Baptist Church of America, also known as the Ridge Church, in New Durham, NH. This is the oldest standing Free Will Baptist church. This church was founded by Benjamine Randall. The building itself wasn't built until 1818-1819, several years after Randall's death.
The first phase of the restoration was to replace the roof. The last time was 25 years earlier. The first 2 weeks of August were set aside for this project. Early mornings and long days helped us accomplish the task at hand. Thanks to Tom Harmon, John Fowlkes, Denver McKay, Larry Bonnema, Mark McCarty, Zack Clark and Justin Fowler for long days of hard work. These men helped preserve a piece of Free Will Baptist history with their efforts.
The next phase will be to paint the outside of the church. We are looking for groups that can donate several days or a week to help with this. Contact our office for more details.
